Tasting notes
Dagala Nero d’Avola has an intense ruby red color, very dark, and with a good consistency. With an interesting intensity, its bouquet is decidedly rich and able to offer floral scents, herbaceous notes, sweet spices, marked minerality and toasted notes such as coffee, cocoa and leather.
Nero d’Avola is the Sicilian red grape variety most grown in Sicily. It was known in ancient times by the name of Calabrese, probably due to an incorrect translation from the Sicilian dialect of the words cala (grape) and aulisi (originally from Avola). Initially, it offered wines with an alcohol content of over 15%. Today this native Sicilian vine produces less hot wines with great freshness, with elegant tannins and which are able to offer greater potential for aging. Nero d’Avola is confirmed as one of the most popular Sicilian red wines.
Nero d’Avola, together with Inzolia, constitutes our Dagala line, created to transfer to you the genuineness of a product of the land from which it is born (from the Arabic “dagala”, fertile land of the river bed). The Belice Destro river, in fact, flanks the vineyards that enjoy an excellent microclimate and grow healthy fruits rich in polyphenols in a natural way
For an aperitif or a light meal to be prepared in a few minutes like the typical Palermo-style cutlet (recipe here), combine a balloon glass of red Dagala. The second one will come by itself.
